A Tired Brain

Nothing really stands out to me today as truly slice-worthy, but we certainly got a lot accomplished, so maybe that is the highlight of my day.

  • All students finished writing one research report paragraph.
  • Most students started the outline for their next paragraph.
  • A few students finished their outline.
  • All students finished the math review.
  • Some students took one part of the math assessment.
  • Some students need to go back and do some corrections on the review.
  • All students curated a selection of primary source documents to use tomorrow.
  • Some students finished their curation.
  • All students read independently.
  • Some students met with me for writing conferences.
  • All students practiced their spelling words and math facts.
  • All students brainstormed ideas for Exhibition, our next unit of inquiry.

It doesn’t seem like a glamorous day, but at least it was a productive one. One of my students said that her brain was tired at the end of the day. Mission accomplished!

Sometimes our days are not all cartwheels and handstands, but being productive can feel just as good. I’m glad you and your kids got so much done.

See the difference a day makes?! How great that yesterday they got kittens, and today they became tired…in a so-much-learning-going-on way! Congratulations! (Just for the record, if I were doing all that in a day, I’d be BEAT.)

A tired brain deserves a list! I love how you reflected on your daily schedule, taking stock of the small and larger victories that your students experienced in one day. I love your ending where one of your student actually validates your thoughts for the day and you turn it into a positive for learning goals accomplished! Get some rest and have at it again tomorrow! Thanks for sharing.
